I love the 4 plays in this volume in the very good translation of over a hundred years ago. There are some minor typos, but nothing that impedes an enjoyable reading. In particular I am very fond of the play "Easter" which I am currently using in one of the classes I teach at local college: its age-old theme of the consequences of someone's crime (punishment?) suffered by innocent people attracts the attention of those who find themselves in similar situations; more importantly, the very Christian idea that people can accept suffering on behalf of others is uplifting in a society that usually abhors taking responsibility for one's own actions. Finally, the beautiful thought that one good deed, performed even many years in the misty past, can be repaid in a grand way by the person originally injured, should be very attractive in a world that seeks an illusory sense of justice in this world. A wonderful book to read, and own.Product details

I DIDNOT LIKE too much, it was boreing
I recommend this for a way of studying human behavior through a staged performance that offers each character an arch.
This is the first time I have ever read Strindberg. We were looing for an Easter play to perform., and found this play. He is awesome, as good as Eugene O'Neil and Ibsen. If his other plays are as good as Easter, I am sure I will like reading them. We probably will put on this play.
